Bluffton Golf Cart Repair sends a technician to your driveway, garage, or community anywhere in greater Bluffton and fixes your cart on-site: batteries, brakes, tires, chargers, solenoids, motors, and controllers. A full lead-acid battery pack runs $1,200–$1,800 installed, brake work $75–$400, tires $75–$150 each, and the $50–$100 service call is applied toward your repair. Describe the symptom by phone or form and we usually arrive with the likely parts already on the truck.
Bluffton runs on golf carts in a way most towns don’t. In Sun City Hilton Head, the cart is the daily driver to golf, the fitness center, and the Okatie Center shops. In Old Town, carts roll down Calhoun Street to the Thursday farmers market and park two blocks from the May River. In Palmetto Bluff, Hampton Lake, and the Buckwalter communities, carts handle the school-of-fish traffic of internal streets and trails. When your cart dies here, you don’t just skip a round, you lose your errand vehicle. That’s why everything we do is mobile, and why same-day matters.
What we fix, at your home
- Mobile golf cart repair: the core service. On-site diagnosis and repair of whatever’s wrong: won’t move, won’t charge, weak on hills, strange noises. All major brands, electric and gas.
- Battery replacement: new lead-acid packs installed with haul-away of the old cores, plus honest lead-acid vs lithium conversion math for carts that log real daily miles.
- Brakes and tires: adjustments, shoes, drums, and new tires installed in your driveway. Sandy paths and year-round riding wear both faster than owners expect.
- Motor and controller repair: solenoids, speed controllers, and drive motors diagnosed properly before anything gets replaced.
- Charger repair: carts that “won’t take a charge” are often a charger, charge port, or corroded connection, not a battery problem. We test before we sell you anything.
- Tune-up service: the coastal annual: battery water and load test, terminal cleaning and protection, brakes, tires, lights, and a corrosion check that matters more here than almost anywhere.
Full ranges for everything are published on the pricing page. Competitors make you call for a number. We’d rather you see it first.
Why Lowcountry carts break differently
Salt air is the quiet killer. Bluffton sits on a tidal estuary. The May River, the Okatie, and the marsh flats put salt in the air year-round, and salt air attacks exactly the parts a golf cart depends on: battery terminals, cable lugs, charge-port contacts, and brake hardware. A cart that would show clean terminals after two years in the Midwest shows green-white corrosion bloom here in one summer. Corroded connections add resistance, resistance mimics a dying battery pack, and owners end up shopping for $1,000 batteries when the actual fix is a $100 cable-and-terminal service. We wrote up the full chemistry in what salt air does to golf cart batteries and wiring.
Humidity never lets anything dry out. Lowcountry summers run dew points that keep garages damp from May to October. Moisture works on wiring insulation, oxidizes connectors, and seizes brake cams on carts that sit. A cart parked for a two-month trip north often comes home needing a tune-up before it needs anything else.
The riding season is twelve months long. There’s no winter layup here. Bluffton carts cycle their batteries year-round, which means packs age on cycles, not calendar years, and brakes and tires wear on the same accelerated clock. A pack rated “5 years” of golf-course duty often taps out closer to four under daily Sun City errand use.
Sand gets into everything. Sandy soil and crushed-shell paths grind brake shoes, pack into wheel bearings, and scrub tread off tires. If your cart lives near the marsh or rides unpaved community trails, brakes and tires deserve a look every year.
Bluffton’s new golf cart law: your cart probably needs something
Since January 1, 2026, the Town of Bluffton enforces its own specialized-vehicle ordinance on top of state law. Inside town limits: every occupant must wear a seat belt, every cart needs a rearview mirror, an SCDMV registration with the permit decal displayed on the lower-left windshield, and proof of liability insurance on board. Driving after dark requires working headlights, taillights, and turn signals. Carts stay off streets posted over 35 mph unless there’s a designated lane, stay out of roundabouts entirely, worth knowing in a town this fond of roundabouts, and cross four-lane roads like US 278 only at signalized intersections. Violations can run up to a $500 fine.
State law adds the baseline everywhere else: a $5 SCDMV golf cart permit, renewed every five years or when you move, operation within 4 miles of your registered address on roads posted 35 mph or less, and a licensed driver 16 or older. We break the whole thing down, town and state, in plain English, in our guide to South Carolina’s golf cart permit law for Bluffton owners.
What that means for repair: lights, signals, mirrors, and seat belts on a Bluffton cart are no longer accessories. We install seat-belt kits, repair lighting circuits, and get carts ordinance-ready as a routine part of the job.
How a mobile visit works
- Tell us the symptom. Won’t move, clicks but no go, won’t charge, dies on hills, squeals when braking. Most problems narrow down fast from a good description, so the tech arrives with the likely parts.
- We come to you. Driveway, garage, or community lot, at a scheduled window: anywhere in Bluffton, Sun City Hilton Head, Okatie, Hardeeville, or Hilton Head Island. The $50–$100 trip fee includes the diagnostic and gets applied to the repair.
- We diagnose before we recommend. Load test on each battery, voltage checks across the pack, charger output test, solenoid and controller checks. We isolate the actual fault instead of selling the most expensive maybe.
- Flat quote on the spot, fix on the spot. Battery sets, solenoids, brake shoes, and tires are usually on the truck. Approve the number and most jobs are done in that same visit.
- Finish clean. Lead-acid packs get watered and terminals coated against salt air, everything gets a torque check and a test drive, and old batteries leave with us for recycling.
Straight answers, published prices
Two things we won’t do. We won’t pretend to be something we’re not: we’re an independent service, not an authorized dealer or warranty center for Club Car, E-Z-GO, Yamaha, ICON, or Evolution, if your cart is under factory warranty, your selling dealer should handle warranty work. And we won’t sell parts you don’t need. A cart that won’t charge gets a charger and charge-port test before anyone talks about a battery pack, and a weak cart gets a per-battery load test (on a flooded pack, a hydrometer check of specific gravity cell by cell) before we condemn six batteries when one is the problem. Voltage sag under load, a chattering solenoid, or a corroded main positive cable each masquerade as “dead batteries,” and telling them apart is the actual skill you’re paying for. If a repair doesn’t make sense against the value of an old cart, we’ll say that too.
The work itself is done by independent local technicians. More on how we operate is on the about page, and the FAQ answers the most common questions.
